East Meets West
Our school is part of a research project titled ‘East Meets West’, co-directed by Trevor Higginbottom, a member of Her Majesty’s Inspectorate for England and Wales. Partner organisations include the Shanghai Xiehe Education Group, DEC(SY), the UK Geographical Association, the British Council and the Institute of Education, University of London.
The key aim of the Project is to compare Chinese and English primary education and determine what educators in both countries can learn from one another. This will provide an exciting and interesting opportunity to compare both pupil attainment and also the methods of teaching and learning adopted in both countries. Shanghai, currently, is the world leader in primary maths, in terms of pupil attainment. (PISA international statistics).
A number of Chinese teachers have already visited us here and two of our teachers, Mrs Marshall and Mrs Astley have also visited schools in Shanghai as our school representatives, between Monday 19th March and Friday 23rd March 2018. This is an exciting opportunity for the school as we continually strive to develop and improve the learning we provide for all of the children.
